I was volunteering at Sloughbottom parkrun again this week and I got the task of handing out the finish TO-KENS this week and TWO CAN do this job – see what I did with title of the report! :0)

I didn’t see any red GG t-shirts this week, but I suspect that this was also because quite a few were at the neighbouring Catton parkrun celebrating the awesome-ness of the milestone of 100 volunteer appearances by fellow Norwich GoodGym-er, Elizabeth. Great stuff, Elizabeth – you’re a superstar! :0)

The other half of the finish token duo this week was Theresa who I first met a couple of years ago when volunteering at Norwich parkrun- so I knew it would be a smoothly running operation today. This woman is also the queen (of many a runner’s goal) of even splits over the 26.2 and she is recovering from another fine run at Frankfurt recently.

Approximately 48 minutes and definitely 221 runners later – our cold fingers and feet only just about started to kick in, but there were no dropped tokens and everyone got safely over the line.

Best moments were two young mums pushing their buggies + little ones across the finish together with beaming smiles, and then our teenage tail walker who merrily skipped his way to the finish line – never seen that before and it brings a smile to your face. We packed up the gear and that’s another Sloughbottom parkrun done and dusted for a week.
