On a dark and grey Saturday, eight GoodGymers met at the garden beside the tennis courts at Brook Green to help Donatella (of Friends of Brook Green) clear space for, assemble and plant a new raised garden bed.

The group quickly divided into those who would help with clearing space for and assembling the raised garden bed frame, and those who would dig up fresh soil for the garden from the rear of the green area. Each task had its own challenges, although I think the soil shovelling crew had the more intense arm workout 💪.

Many wheelbarrows and buckets full of soil later, we were pleased to complete the new raised bed. Each of us then took turns planting new and rescued flowers and plants into the garden.

Thanks to Donatella for her patient instructions and for providing some homemade crostata for us to enjoy as we admired the new garden, and to the other volunteers from St Paul's Girls School who helped with preparing the soil for the new garden bed; and big thanks to Matt for once again bringing along his weather controlling powers to hold off the heavy rain until the completion of the task!! 🙌
