Today I met up with the amazing Annie for a mission in Hackney for Ms I. This is Annie's first ever mission(!! Woot!! 🎉🎉🎉), and she's not resting on her laurels, having signed up to another one this afternoon!! Amazing stuff! 😍🎉

Our task this morning was to help facilitate Ms I's release from hospital by removing a mattress from her house and to "remove decorative hangings" from the doorways of most of the rooms. I'm currently on the lookout for "decorative hangings" for my house, so I was pretty happy about potentially seeing some decoration inspiration: People pay to attend design roadshows on a Saturday morning when they could just join GoodGym! 😄✌️

We were met at Ms I's house by her friend and cousin. Annie had come super prepared to the mission by reading all of the instructions properly, which meant that she could tell me straight off the bat that we needed to remove the lower mattress out of the two we were faced with. Faced with this, we pretty quickly came up with a method for achieving this; sliding the upper mattress up into a standing position to allow access to the lower one.

The lower mattress being reasonably easy to manoeuvre, I then trundled outside with the lower mattress for a family friend to collect while Annie replaced the upper mattress and re-made the bed (making beds is not my forte, so I'm glad the division of labour went this way!).

We finished off by taking down three sets of decorative hangings. The only spanner in these works were that a couple of them were tied above the doorway onto nails using twine and string, which meant that they were probably more secure than someone taking them down wanted them to be. Regardless, with a few twizzles they were down and we were making our goodbyes to Ms I's family friend.

Lovely meeting you Annie! Congratulations once again on your first mission and I'm sure I'll see you on another one soon! 😄🎉✌️

[NB Despite including pictures of a dog, there wasn't really a dog here: I just saw this dog at a house I was staying at, and felt like his tail needed to be shared with the world 😍]

First I have to declare inadvertant mendaciousness on my part. Looking at my GoodGym record it seems that my erecting gazebos for a cemetery open day in Stoke Newington counted as a mission (goodness knows what I thought its catagory to be) so I have accepted celebratory buns from you, Liz, under false pretences! I owe you buns and look forward to repaying. They were, btw, delicious!
Ms I's cousin, a lovely lady, met us in the front garden and chatted while we worked. She and Liz made what could have been a sombre task enjoyable.

The gazebo thing was a community mission, this was your first proper mission, Annie
