The hottest day of the year, when even the breeze was hot, couldn't deter Ipswich Goodgymmers this evening.

It was an unusual session as we had a BBC TV crew following us, filming for the Inside Out programme. So our warm up was punctuated with instructions to ..."just do that again please" before we set off along the waterfront. Unfortunately we were so keen to get going we managed leave two of the crew behind, not realising they were intending to run with us! It wasn't until we reached Brickmakers Wood and the other TV crew member asked about her colleagues!

While Jo, our host from Eden Rose Coppice Trust gave out instructions on the tasks - sawing logs, some badly needed watering and some raking of dead weeds to make an insect haven - I retraced our entire route looking for the missing persons. I didn't manage to find them, but was relieved that they arrived at the wood just before I got back there!

By now work was under way right across the site as well as various takes & retakes of Goodgym in action. It was a little "stop - start" throughout the evening to meet the needs of the TV crew but we still got loads done. We were also amazed to see the plot of land we had spread around 5 tons of topsoil on, during our last visit was now looking fabulous with lush green grass growing on it - green grass being a bit of a novelty nowadays!

Once the task was completed we headed to the next door Alexandra Park for a short but intense interval session. With temperature still high and feeling very humid, we saw tremendous effort from everyone during a pyramid session with only 30 secs recovery between each effort.

A gentle jog back down the hill to the Waterfront completed our night and we look forward to seeing how the footage from tonight looks when it hits our TV screens - probably sometime in September and will act as a reminder when we'll have forgotten about this hot summer night on TV!
