The GRAND plan that didn’t quite MEASURE up

2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Richmond.

First things first: well done Ricky for your morning Richmond Half Marathon!

The bonus of the above, was that Ricky was in the leafy ‘burbs and all timed perfectly for him to do a mission in Richmond and Samia to pop over after her coach visit.

We greeted Mr P and his wife and were shown through to see the task that never transpired. There was a grand piano waiting to be moved through into the living room, but a lot of other furniture in the way and bits that needed dismantling, and Mr P decided that this would be a task that would need to be left to the pros.

We don’t mind Chopin and changing tasks

Instead, he asked us to help rejig some bedroom furniture, so that he and his wife were no longer bashing into it when trying to squeeze past the bed. After moving items from the floor to clear a route, we got wardrobe moving. We managed to get one wardrobe out of the alcove and, well, half of one in its place... but try as we might, we just couldn’t see how the matching counterpart would fit in.

Mr P was optimistic and had a measuring stick at hand, but the pesky skirting boards and picture rails meant that it just wouldn’t be possible. So we had another bit of a rejig and managed to fit a small metal drawer case next to the lonely single wardrobe, and moved its twin back to where it started. With little space to navigate it out of the room and a twisting staircase to negotiate, we decided that the first-to-be-moved wardrobe would be best left in the bedroom and that could be added to the pros’ to-do list.

Mr P’s enthusiasm for GoodGym was contagious, asking how we found out about it and who joins - always nice to have some chitchat to break up the task. After we agreed that we’d done as much as we could, we bid Mr P and his wife farewell and set off.
