The Bees Knees
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Sheffield.
- Saturday, 9th of June 2018
Cycling Suze and Cameo Caroline, who had kindly stepped in to make sure the mission could go ahead, arrived in Woodthorpe on a sunny morning to a lovely garden in good condition. Mr. B was delighted to see us and have some help tidying it up further. We mowed the lawn and weeded the borders, before noticing that the beatutiful purple flowering bush was being attacked from within by bindweed. To tackle this we had to be very brave goodgymmers and plunge our hands through the swarms of bees enjoying the flowers, but they must have realised we were helping as they didn't sting us once. With all the bindweed and goosegrass removed, the plants should continue to flourish for future bee generations. We finished off with a quick chat with Mr. B and his daughter about his love of cycling and motorcycling, before heading off to do some coursework and get glittery at Peace in the Park.
