It was so so so so so so so so lovely to see some of our lovely Goodgym members last night. It's been so long since a group of us has been able to meet up and do a task together. To have that face to face contact, in 'real life' with someone outside our own household was just wonderful. We chatted, we laughed, we used our muscles and we did good for our community (all socially distanced of course). Oh, and it was wonderful to see Maurice sporting his new '50' T-shirt..... the first person in Goodgym Crewe to earn it and what an inauguration it had!

Last night we were at our local food bank. Crewe food bank not only provides food for members of our community who are in need but it also provides furniture. The furniture is distributed free of charge to people in crisis - so for people who find themselves with literally nothing for various reasons.... coming off the street, coming out of an institution, house fires, relationship breakdowns etc. What's lovely about the Crewe food bank is that because they have such a large premises, it enables them to allow people to come and choose their own furniture, which makes the process a little more personal. Due to the impact of the pandemic, there are sadly more and more people finding themselves in need of support.

Due to COVID and them having to change the way they do things in the food bank, all the furniture had become cluttered and unorganised which made it impossible to display the available items for the clients. It was our job to help move and reorganise everthing so that clients can come and safely see the furniture displays easily.

We moved sofas, wardrobes, chairs, bureaus, bedside cabinets, coffee tables, TV stands..... you name it we moved it. Peter (our host) wanted everything organising into areas... so sofas in one place, wardrobes in another etc etc. By the time 8 pairs of Goodgym hands had worked their magic, the place was looking tidy, organised and amazing!! clients will find it much easier to go and pick their items now!

The food bank is in a very old, large church... which meant that we were greeted by one or two 8 legged spectators! Hopefully we didn't disturb them too much...

Our evening was rounded off with a quick tour of the food bank. They have some amazing projects running and we can't wait to do more to help them again the coming weeks and months.

It was an absolute joy to be together doing something good for our wonderful community!

Brilliant report by our inspiring, motivational leader Nicola. Look forward to the long nights and running to future missions together when Covid restrictions are eased.
