DEBATE

Tonight's debate was about the best type of fruit. Suggestions:

1) Bananas. Yes, a bit of a boring choice, but portable and full of potassium. K? Peter Andre overdosed on bananas. Rock 'n' Roll!
2) Sharon Fruit, or is it a Persimmon? Anyway, it is very tasty and there are rumours it can help break down alcohol, which might be good for curing hangovers, or maybe it's for getting drunk. Go and experiment, people.
3) Grapes. These are delicious frozen.
4) Avocado. Is it a fruit? From the comfort of the PC, we can say yes, it is is fruit. It is very versatile and you can eat it with prawns.
5) Guinep/Genip/genipe/ginepa/quenepa (thanks Enya), which you probably know as Melicoccus bijugatus. No argument is needed for its inclusion. Just look at its name(s). Bonus biscuit for anybody who can bring along a guinep next week.
6) I'm sure there were others. I would have written them down but there was only one pen ...

REPORT

Brought to us in rhyming form by the wonderful Richard.

Fruit & Whole Grain...

Twas a Wintry night in Highbury Town
When runners came, from all around
To chase the January Blues away
With fruit based banter as they play

They started late for lack of pens
(as always there were fewer men)
but soon they were a running
(don't worry, the puns are coming!)

To fruit said Simon, what's you're fave
In Pears they did run (and rant and rave)
Pray Strawberry, mango, pineapple, plum
All manner of fruits heard on this run

They finally reached the community space
with chairs all dotted around the place
their task was handed from the giver
Come forward all - sand and deliver!

With frantic arms they swiped the grain
strained muscles back and forth again
Til on the floor much sawdust settle
Goodgym once more had proved their mettle

Be back next week to sand again
Lets hope that then, there'll be more men!

Richard

A poetic masterpiece. I've spent the afternoon musing over the exquisite fit of "sand and deliver!"
