It wasn't looking like a dry run this evening as the rain started getting heavier and heavier. Saying this it didn't stop the tough Bexley GoodGym team turning out for another run and good deed. This evening we were running out to help BATs Transport get one of their accessible mini buses clean and ready for duty. On signing in at basecamp Crooklog we made our way out for our pre run warmup and good deed chat. Our mission was to head out down through Danson park and round to the Stables car park where the mini bus would be waiting for its bath.

There's really something quite nice about running in the rain

There's really something quite nice about running in the rain. It's even better when you're running with an awesome group of people all chatting about the weekend, the main topic being the London Marathon. Well done Tanya who volunteered at one of the water stations. Who knows Tanya next year someone could be handing you a water whilst you're running the big 26.2. We soon arrived at our destination and was greeted by Ben who had everything up and ready to go. After giving a lovely talk on what BATS does for the local community we were eager to get sponges in hand and get to work.

Let me tell you, washing a mini bus is an awesome cardio and arm strengthening workout

Let me tell you, washing a mini bus is an awesome cardio and arm building work out. With the rain starting to ease off, it was swapped with foam and warm water getting thrown over the bus. With a team working on the outside and a team on the inside we started to win the war on the dirt. The mini bus soon started to look good and this brought the smiles to the Goodgym team knowing that we were winning the battle.
Wow! What a difference 35 minutes can make. On inspection Ben gave us the thumbs up, and after our Mandatory weekly photo and modelling shoot we said our good byes, and with a promise to meet up again we headed out towards the Danson lakes for our fitness run. This week I pushed the stronger runners on their way making them loop back past us, then sprint run to catch us upagain. As they pushed their fitness, I had time to push and help Jackie showing her some breathing techniques as well as working on her posture and her keep it going motivation. Jackie you are doing awesome, well done. As the rain bounced off the lake, we headed back out onto Danson road for our last leg home, knowing that a bit of rain wasn't going to dampen our spirits or our love of running. We all arrived safely back at Basecamp Crooklog for our cool down. As we stretched out and rung out our damp attire, we talked about some up and coming races and Goodgym missions, oh and how we couldn't wait to get home and in a nice warm shower. With that last thought in mind we headed our separate ways. Well done Bexley Goodgymers, you were brilliant tonight. See you all next week 🙌🏻
