Phew! Summer still has plenty of life in it, and GoodGym’s Ernie and Steve arrived at this month’s CREOS task ready to help out with all the great work the group has been doing to preserve this wonderful woodland. FYI dog lovers - this area is hugely popular with dog walkers and their handsome pups.

Our main task was to remove the fencing from around the wildflower garden that GoodGymmers had established earlier that year. The blooms are gone for this year, but the seeds are in the ground and will be another delight come springtime.

Quickly pulling out the iron pegs and flattening out the chicken wire, the only way to get on with the task was to roll with it. We neatly packed the fencing away for next year, and then could get on with clearing away the dead grass. This will give the wildflowers the best chance to spring back to life.

Working with CREOS is always a pleasure, and this week we learned that CREOS’ very own Glenys has published a book about rescue dogs, with all proceeds going to charity (pictured).

Join us here NEXT MONTH when rumour has it we will be PLANTING TREES! I hear they’re really handy for this climate change thing.
