Seven runners ran 6 km to help level some earth at the De Quincy Allotments.

After getting Francis Mission Verified, we headed off from Tottenham Green Leisure centre and ran about 1km along Phillip Lane, reaching Downhills Road (not Downshill as Cathy originally thought and Dave helped clarify [ed. every helpline phone call gets this wrong!] ) until reaching the park at the top. We ran across Lordship recreation grounds across the gorgeous lawns reaching the other side where we crossed over the road and ran about another 1.5km.

Upon reaching De Quincy Allotments we split into 2 groups. The first set about digging up the brambles behind the shed and levelling the ground to make space for an eco toilet. The second group took off with their wheelbarrows to shift some earth from a path towards the back of the allotments, levelling the ground along 4 metres of path.

Shout out to Sarah for finding an interesting pry bar under the earth and Dave for digging up some alien looking roots. We all pitched in at the end to finish off the bit behind the shed. High fives all round - even with the allotment owners!

On the way back we worked on some running techniques - Dave saying to imagine a helium balloon tied to the top of your head lifting you up. Sarah and Dave showing up how to pump those arms in the most effective way - parallel to each other, socket to pocket, driving those elbows back to maximise the impact. Then Sarah saying to imagine creeping in home late and trying to make as little noise as possible so your parents don't hear, keep those feet light on the ground.

Ollie made a great call to cross back across the recreation ground as the sun was setting. A sprint up the hill of the recreation ground on the way back to finish off meant we all had a proper workout, and were treated to a fabulous sunset.

Many thanks for the Run report by Cathy

See you next week for a run round the block to really get moving on the summer library garden!
