As the winter months roll in and many people prioritised for vaccinations at the beginning of the year are returning for their boosters, some GoodGymmers are returning to their volunteering posts at their local vaccination centres.

My duties today were screening people on arrival to make sure they were ok to have their vaccinations, and generally trying to keep everyone upbeat while they queued outside the centre.

If you’re interested, volunteer slots are available in multiple locations around Hackney throughout the week, last 3 hours each and are entirely loggable to count towards your GoodGym Good Deeds. If you're injury-prone like me, they're a great excuse to be on your feet and stretching out to speed your recovery.

You don’t have to keep any regular shifts if you don’t want to, opting in when you have the time (just like GoodGym). Email jane.tyler@vchackney.org and mention you’re a GoodGym volunteer (naturally, they think we’re trustworthy, reliable and lovely). Once they get you signed up on the online system, you can pick which time slots and locations work for you!
