Gateway Chemist has set up a vaccination centre next to the main premises to support the roll-out of vaccination. This is particularly important during the winter period. 27 residents with either pre-booked or simply walked in during the morning session for a variety of COVID, flu and pneumonia vaccination. I ensured that all attendees were using face mask, applying sanitiser and completed the registration form if they turned up without an appointment. I also escorted each attendee to the main building at the dedicated waiting area for the vaccination. There was a wide spread of age groups who attended and a combination of multiple vaccination for individuals at one time. One of the pharmacists said that without the support of the volunteers, the vaccination centre would not work and that they were grateful for. The four-hour shift has gone very quickly. I also learned how to help and dispose the empty vaccination bottles and cleaned up the little vaccination storage boxes to lighten the load of the pharmacists.
