Three visits over the week to try and keep the more drought sensitive plants alive and to stop the plantains seeding. Plus a huge haul of free plants from Homebase ready for planting on Monday 8th August.

Monday 1 August 2022

Watering session at the 🐦🐦🐦 and Arcade Rockery focusing on the Acers and the new planting. Sadly none of the night scented stock have survived but the mesbranthenem is hanging in there (We grew some from seed last year and it seemed happy on the rockery). Plus a bit of plantain pulling on the Arcade lawn as a lot of new flower heads have shot up and are spreading seeds.

Weds 3 Aug 2022

Some more watering plus a major plantain pull on the lawn in front of the Arcade.

Thursday 4 August 2022

Homebase in Richmond is closing to make way for a major housing development so I went in to see if they had any bargains suitable for the Arcade and 🐦🐦🐦s. The garden centre manager offered me the pick of some rather dehydrated looking plants and I took a selection of fuchsias, saxifrage, verbena snapdragon that I thought might be rescued with a really good soak. At 🐦🐦🐦 I took them all down to the bottom of the steps and dunked them in the Thames and left them to soak for a bit while before taking them to the Arcade. We can plant them during Monday’s Group Mission. I also did some watering, concentrating on the Acers, the mesbranthenem and the plants in the Arcade.
