Long May They Reign, and Long Did It Rain!

Spring is definitely on it's way, and Maidenhead community allotment needed help putting up a frame for their runner beans to grow up. Five intrepid Goodgymers turned up in the rain, and set to work. Sara, Sheila, Sol and Nicola took on the bean bed. After removing the membrane which had kept the weeds down over winter, we gave the bed a quick dig over. We selected the longest bamboo canes and placed them in pairs along the row, tying them up with string. Some horizontal canes tied everything together, and voila! the structure is all ready for the beans. We had a short break in the shed whilst the rain was particularly heavy, with just time for a quick selfie, but were soon back to work. Meanwhile, Rachel busied herself clearing the brassica beds of last season's crop. Our final task was to cover some raised beds with some netting.
