Today I met up with Peter for an early morning mission in Hackney. I was especially excited about today's mission, as it marked the first time I had Peter as my mission mate. I decided to celebrate the occasion by barely sleeping, arriving early, and buying a lot of things I probably didn't need from a local Tesco (although, please note that I didn't buy the intriguingly packaged packet of flavoured apple slices pictured, which is the healthiest equivalent to a Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans I've ever seen).

I digress.

Our mission today was to help Mr S come home from hospital by making some space in his lounge for a hospital bed to be installed. As Mr S is currently in hospital, his neighbour, M was scheduled to meet us and let us into his home.

After exchanging greetings with Peter (I bounced up and down a few times and said: "Are you excited? Are you excited? Are you excited, or do you need coffee and/or sugar?", to which Peter simply responded, "Coffee"), we rang the bell and knocked the door.

No answer.

I tried knocking again: The walk exuberance of this (singular) knock scared me a little, so we stepped away from the door to pretend that the noise had nothing whatsoever to do with us (I don't think it's rat-a-tat ginger when you genuinely want them to answer the door).

The next 15/20 minutes were spent chatting (apparently Peter's shorts season normally runs until November), checking our confirmation email for a phone number (there wasn't one), and seeing if Peter's run leader admin rights on the website gave him any extra contact details (they don't).

We decided to give it one last try at the end of 20 minutes, but our third attempt didn't prove lucky (Tbh, it's probably a good thing I didn't get the flavoured apple slices - with today's luck the spinner would probably have kept on landing on bubblegum flavour 🙄 (a bad apple flavour)).

Hopefully we'll be able to rearrange this mission soon so that Mr S can come home :)

Until next time, Peter! 😄
