On a warm morning in Lewisham, a team of early-rising GoodGymers assembled at Hilly Fields to help make it just a little better. Armed with gloves, rubbish bags and a second-hand picker, the team set about gathering litter from this greenest corner of the Borough.

"Slimmer Pickings"

Being the latest in a regular series of Hilly Fields “plogging” Missions, it was pleasing to see the difference being made as the prevalence of litter was noticeably down from previous visits. Nevertheless, there was enough to keep us all alert and busy as we proceeded from the café to make our way around the undulating Parkrun course.

"Bagging Rights"

After a productive 45 mins and with 1 Parkrun lap completed (no PB’s today!), 3 big bags had been filled with plastic bottles, wet-wipes, cigarette butts, wrappers of all kinds and even the odd item of discarded clothing. For good measure, the whole team then remained to take part in the Parkrun that followed, either running or volunteering.

"While they’re Dropping, we ain’t Stopping"

This particular Mission will keep on rolling throughout the summer so keep an eye out for further dates and come join the fun!

Is it distracting when you're running parkrun, if you spot a bit of litter you missed?! Great work team :)
