3 GoodGym runners went to Yardley on a leaflet dropping mission for Arts In The Yard, a community group in the area. We were delivering a newsletter for local residents which provided contact information for community groups in the area providing support during coronavirus, among many other things. I gave myself trolley duties, as there was a lot to deliver today and we took two full boxes with us in our GoodGym group. A very supportive Fiona christened me the GoodGym Trolley Dolly. So with Yvette as well, we set off in short bursts, a few roads at a time, before meeting up with the other volunteers in an agreed place and moving onto another section. What was startling at first, as we took a slow walk around an area unfamiliar to myself and Yvette, was how beautiful the Old Yardley Village is. It’s like a mini open air museum. In between sections I let our side down as I dropped the trolley a few times on bumpy pavements, but no harm was done. At one point there was seven of us on one stretch of road and we were making progress like enthusiastic teenagers on a paper round. After a couple of hours, it felt great to get the message out about these vital services.
