Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Conroy
Last 9 runners met in the lobby of Solution where we welcome Zara, who used to run with our friends over in Lambeth but has recently relocated to Croydon so she is now a member of our group. Thanks Lambeth!
Our original task got cancelled but having promised the group that the task was walking friendly, the other option would not be suitable for walkers due to the distance. Not wanting anyone to drop out because of a change in venue I tried finding a task that would be suitable for walkers, having no joy my thoughts turned to an extended fitness session but then I checked the weather report and it was going to be a clod one. Puzzling over what to do and talking to a few friends they sowed the seed of a scavenger hunt/quiz and test the groups knowledge of the borough of Croydon.
Formalities and house keeping out the way the group split into two teams of four and headed out into Croydon in search of glory.
Both groups eventually ended up in Box Park where one got to sample various food on offer, not only did they sample the food but also used their initiative and took advantage of the of the person giving out the samples by placing GoodGym cards on their trays. (with their permission of course)
I had hoped the challenge would have ended in a draw as I had the ultimate tie breaker planned which would have not just amused me but everyone present and maybe our Twitter/Instagram followers. Who knows maybe I might be able to get the tie breaker performance at tonight’s meal!
From the pictures can you spot some of the answers to the questions?
I have included a picture of the questions should you wish to have a go if you were unable to join us last night.
It was a good night despite not having a task and great fun, at least 12 people learned about GoodGym last night, I’ll keep my eyes peeled on the new signups to see who mentions finding out about GoodGym following last nights event.
Next week is our last group run of the year we will be heading back to ECCO sign up here.
Looking ahead sorry I know you are still enjoying 2018 but please give some thought to the below
Each year we set ourselves a January challenge, trying to do as many good deeds and run as far as possible. See the results from the 2018 challenge here. We conquered the distance and fell just short on deeds.
This coming January is no exception and like last year we want each area to be involved in setting their target so they can compete against areas of similar size.
*How it will work *
Each area will be asked to set themselves a target for the number of good deeds they will get and the distance they will run in the month of January. Based on these targets we will create leagues, each area being placed with those with a similar target.
On 1st January the challenge begins. Areas topping each league come the end of January will be crowned champions. The overall area winner will receive the much coveted Golden Trowel
We just need to do 2 simple things. Between ourselves work out our area target for January.
