As the ice rain attempted to fall, 10 runners met to go for the first time to Nunhead Green Salvation Army Centre to turn that yellow corridor bright and white.

We welcomed back some old faces and attempted to warm up outside despite the chill and the pollution warnings that that been given earlier in the week. It would seem we are all a little bit defiant as a group of runners! After a short run, we arrived at the nicely lit (and warm) hall where we were met by Tim who had lots of paint brushes, rollers and sheets out ready for us.

Once the ladders and paint were divided out and the masking tape laid, we set to work. Despite some friendly spiders and their webs on a lot of pipes, we smashed it. With theme tunes

Whistle while you work

Disney featured heavily and not content with Snow White songs, we slightly butchered 'Let it snow,' who knew it would be a strong painting song.

Achey arms and some unfinished pipes later and we were done; it's a treat to be able to surprise the organisations we go to with how quickly we finish things. This space is going to feature in a new community coffee morning for families and the centre hosts meals for the homeless and a lot of children's groups so we're really privileged to be able to help them keep the centre in working order.

I'm sure it won't be the last time we head here.

Proper rinsed

Once we had washed out our brushes, it was time to go back outside... some sad faces but we soon got running and got to the top of Peckham Rye ready for our 6weekly time trial... 720metres best effort.

Congratulations to all runners Not only did all of the time trial newbies set excellent benchmarks, everyone who was doing it again beat their own time and Michael beat his own course record. So Christmas didn't do too much damage, or the cold made everyone run faster?

Either way, grand job runners. This is what we came for.
