20 Goodgymers took to the street, ran 4.7k and took on the railings at Kori

Big shouts out to, Michelle, Alice and Amy who aced their first GoodGym run and task. Oh and a huge shout out to one of our old faithfuls Ali who rejoined after a little break. Show some support with a cheer folks.

No harmony this week

Unfortunately our planned task had dropped out the night before so this meant us returning to Kori where we are tasked with scraping paint off the railings around the children’s playground in preparation for painting. This is no easy task and we’ve been at it for a long while but we are getting ever closer and we simply can’t wait to get it done and bring a smile back to the face of the nippers and parents who use the park.

Warm up and run out

After welcoming a couple of newcomers and a good old bit of banter we headed out for our briefing and warm up.. that done we headed for Kori which is a pretty cool and almost straight route. We split into three groups as we ran to ensure everyone could run at a comfortable pace for them.. our newcomers were a little unsure if they could maintain a pace with the rest of the group but this turned out to be nothing but a worry as they were fine and if they weren’t we’d have made sure we looked after and supported them in the best possible way – sorted.

The task

On arrival to the task sight we dished out tools and carried on with the banter that had continued on the run out and after a quick demonstration everyone was off scratching, scraping, pushing and pulling for our arm day task. We made a nice bit of progress with there being 20 of us.. a very nice number to get a big job like this done. I suspect we have a few more sittings before we can get the paintbrushes out but I’m confident we can do this before autumn is up.

The return and social

Our run back was pretty cool after a challenging wall sit and a round of high fives, before we left the task site. We stopped and regrouped at the foot of Downhills Park Road and let Ellie and Alice pass us before we upped the pace and tried to catch up with them along the home straight. Nice to see a bit of sibling rivalry by the Hamblins here.. some pretty strong finishing here.. then came our warm down.

That all done we headed to LOVEN who have recently moved to a new location for their LOVENPresents project. We gnashed and nattered away at pizza and each other
