10 top runners ran over 5km to transform the outside space at the Charlton United Reformed Church!

We had a new task location last night, which is always very exciting!!! And a decent turn out too which made it even better!

Ho, ho, ho!

It was our penultimate session before Christmas so things got very festive. A few Michael Buble tunes, a Christmas song head count, a Christmas dinner themed warm up, a festive fitness session and some yummy mince pies for our #greenwichgoodies to top it all off! If you weren't in the Christmas spirit before you arrived, hopefully you came away with a little sparkle!

So we had one new runner last night! We welcomed the lovely Suzanne who is actually one of my PT clients and she had already done an hour long training session with me earlier in the day but she still came out and ran a 5k run with us... Nice one!!! We welcomed back Mike and Katie after their first run last week. I also met two new faces, Izzie and Jack who had run with us a few weeks ago while I was on holiday. Rachel returned after unfortunately breaking her hand a few weeks ago. And then we had Amy, Ben & Vickie our GG Greenwich veterans!

After we established what everyone's favourite Christmas song was, we dropped our bags off and did a warm up outside. A little jog up and down the grass followed by a festive little burpee game and we were ready to go!

It was a hilly 2.5k to the church but everyone absolutely smashed those hills!!! They were really tough so well done guys! We arrived at the church at around 7.25 and met Andrew, the new minister, and he showed us what needed doing. Everyone grabbed a tool, we took a group photo and got straight to it! There were lots of weeds to be removed, leaves to be swept, plant pots to be emptied, ivy to be ripped down and branches to be trimmed so loads to be getting on with!

These guys absolutely powered through it! After 25 minutes everything was done and the place looked completely different! What a transformation! We gathered together all the tools, tied up the last few bin bags and said goodbye to Andrew who teased us about a potential decorating task in the new year... YESSSS!!!

The run back was a lot easier as it was all downhill! We got back to base camp in a flash and everyone was raring to go for the fitness session!

The 12 exercises of Christmas!

Sticking with the Christmas theme, we did 1 round of 12 different exercises going from 12 star jumps, 11 squat jumps, 10 mountain climbers etc etc.... all the way down to 2 sprints and 1 minute of plank! With some Mariah on in the background of course! After one round, the mince pies were calling so we stopped it there, had a stretch and went to get our bags and a mince pie!

Sadly Jack & Vickie both got punctures on their bikes on the way to the run. I hope you both got home ok! Oh and Jack good luck for your 50th GoodGym run next week!

Well done everyone! You really transformed that place and it would have taken one person hours to do what you all did so really good job. Next week is the last run of 2016 so let's make it a gooden! Hope to see you all there!
