5 runners ran to help with a painting task at the Locke Park Cafe.
Scary monsters gathered from far and wide to meet up for an annual thriller... and to get fit and do good in their local community. We ran a steady mile up to Locke Park to help out with a painting task inside the cafe. Natasha, the cafe manager, met us there and we discussed upcoming plans for the cafe. Some exciting things in the pipeline, we look forward to seeing them come to life.
The group set to work with paintbrushes and rollers in freshening up the bathroom area, all to our very own Halloween playlist. There was a good debate about which songs should (or should not) be on the playlist, apparently Ghost Town by The Specials was an obvious choice which got completely missed, but of course we had the other classics including Thriller, Time Warp, and Ghostbusters. Who can resist a classic? 👻
We made light work of painting the walls and wooden surfaces, then washed up our brushes and rollers.
There was time for a couple of Halloween themed games, including Spider Splat - which turned out to be a lot harder than it looks. The sticky spider found it's way mostly onto the floor, walls, and even a chair. Congratulations to Clair and Sarah, the only people who actually managed to hit the target area. 🕸 There was also a very tense game of Spider Races, where the group had to get their spiders to jump across the floor and across the finish line. Prizes all round from a selection of spooky sweet treats and fruit.
Another great evening with a nice little run back to base - we shall definitely be back to help with more tasks at the cafe!
Next week we have another indoor task, this time back to the Carer's Community Garden with Gordon. Click here to sign up. 😊
