Garden Restoration

2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Windsor and Maidenhead.

Mr and Mrs B ate no longer able to tend their garden, so he asked for some help to restore it to its former condition. It has obviously been beautifully designed and maintained in the past, but is now beginning to be over-run by ivy, bindweed and other enthusiastic herbaceous plants. Rachel and Sheila went to help on a mild October morning. There was much to do, but we prioritised keeping the paths clear, and pulling the bindweed and ivy away from the shrubs. By the end of the session we had filled 7 bags full of green waste which we carried to the bottom of their daughter's garden to be disposed of. We could easily spend as much time again working on the remainder, but hopefully they will have a bit of pride again in their garden.
