Mrs Q can no longer tend her garden, and I have done some weeding there previously. Today's task was to try to remove the ivy from her Lilac tree. She was most anxious about this, as it had been planted in memory of her late husband, and the ivy has really taken hold. It was difficult telling which branches were Lilac and which were ivy, they were so intertwined. I tried cutting the ivy off near to the bottom to cut off from its roots, and then pulled off as many of the upper strands as possible. I ran out of time (and height!), but I managed to clear quite a lot of it and give the Lilac a fighting chance
