Here's what Ms K of SE5 had to say about the mission:

'I just wanted to say thank you SO much to the volunteers who dug my allotment over yesterday. They were absolutely fabulous and the plot is almost ready for planting. Thanks thanks thanks! All the best, Mrs K'

Ms K of SE5, mission beneficiary

On a warm and breezy Sunday morning we met Mrs K at her allotment and saw that it had become overgrown with weeds. She had been ill and unable to dig the ground but wanted to plant beans, her pride and joy. We got to work turning over the earth with forks and pulling up the stubborn, and very strong rooted, weeds. Mrs K offered her gardening advice to us and another volunteer digging another allotment - as well as tea and biscuits! It was hard work but satisfying to get rid of the hardy weeds and discovering a few potatoes.... Mrs K is now looking forward to planting her runner beans in the newly dug soil.
