A 0530 start before work I met up with Kat at a social distance to head for an early morning along the beach armed with litter pickers and bags. The good weather was bringing everyone to the beach but unfortunately when a lot of people left they didn’t take their litter with them. Admittedly some was placed next to bins but due to the large amounts and local seagulls it soon gets dispersed on the shoreline. There are however still areas where litter was obviously left on the beach, either filled with pebbles so it won’t blow away or buried so that it’s partially visible. We only had an hour but within that hour we collected, a bottle of vinegar, socks, shoes, plastic bottles, containers, clothes hangers for small children, plastic spade, fishing wire and hooks.

Whilst the weather is good and the situation is what it is this will only continue, especially as more and more places are starting to open for takeaways.
