On a looooovely sunny day, I was glad to be posted on one of the plum outside jobs at the John Scott Health Centre, where a vaccination centre has been set up for the residents of Hackney.

I got to wield the temperature gun to check no-one entering had a fever, presented patients with screening questions, and helped troubleshoot the process and provide extra support for people arriving with different needs.

The whole volunteer team is delightful to work with, and besides the sense of camaraderie, there’s a real feeling that we’re winning the battle and getting closer to being able to enjoy our daily lives more freely. Passing a (socially distanced) fairground in Finsbury Park on the way home, I can’t help but feel more optimistic.
