Running, Chopping, Hauling & Hanging with GG Brent this September!!

On a hot and sticky night GG Brent gave it everything we had on a mission to get fit and do some good for Harlesden Community Gardens, this September.

Happy and excited we met, as always at our beloved Queensbury on Willesden High Road. Welcoming two newbies into the fold - Samina and Priya, they joined a full squad of gorgeous GG Gals, with one exception, the backpack carrying ninja Nimesh..... Will we ever find out what he carries in that thing...??? My guess is NO*

After catch-ups and house-keeping we hot footed our way out, into the even hotter night and much to my delight, it was Nisha who led the pack. Only 8 weeks since she first started running (I know immersive right!!) with a pace that was making us all feel the grit and sweat, this super woman was flying high and taking us all along for the ride!!

Heads down and the wind in our hair, we sped along the high road drinking in all of the atmosphere, including wiffs of tummy-rumble inducing take away shops.... Pure torture I might add!! Hunger pangs put to the side, we made our way west, tackling hills and all the road works in the world it would seem, to weave through Roundwood Park and the last mile dash to our host for the night - Harlesden Community Gardens HURRAH

Upon arrival and greeted as always with the smiling face of our gorgeous host Gabriel, we were set to work immediately. This week the start of of our two for two, coz we'll be joining them next week to help out once more. Gabriel explained the plans for the site - A nature reserve in the making, to encourage local wildlife to nest.

In order to begin the build for their new and luxurious home we were set to work on clearing and chopping foliage, hauling soil for the compost heap and sawing wood for the bug hotel We certainly worked 'A hard day's night' so I hope the Beatle's will be grateful

Despite the dark creeping in, the creepy crawlies were still able to find their way over to our deliciously exposed skin and we proceeded through the task with various squeaks and eeks as one by one we were eaten alive!!! But like the warriors we are we battled on, no mozzy or nat, could dampen our spirits, no matter how much blood we lost!! YIKES.

After a back-breaking 45mins of Do-Gooding, the team finished the sesh with some ab-tastic exercise and playground fun. To the heart pumping tunes of 90's dance and Old-Skool Kriss Kross, they Jump Jumped their way to the final hurdle
*Monkey Bars *Hang tough *Swings *Climbing frame scramble

With the light finally gone, we said our goodbyes and into the night we sped once more. Cruising the final 2 mile route back to base, there was a chorus of good-cheer in the air as we discussed dinner plans and teams for a potential stab at Tough Mudder in October, now we had proved ourselves as monkey bar experts!! (Stay tuned for that one)

Stretched and watered the team called it a night. Hot and sticky, but always so much positivity and fun, just your typical Monday night for the wondrous team we call GG Brent.

Until next time....

DO GOOD. FEEL GOOD. INSPIRE
