11 people ran 6k to give out fruit to the homeless

We welcomed Collete, Alice and Richard to our fruit task tonight. It was great to have the three of you with us.

We set off loaded with all our fruit. Richard looked like he was doing some military training with his big back stacked full of vitamin goodness! He was definitely keen to get it unloaded ASAP! The group ran along the canal towards the Brindley Place area, before jogging around to the town hall, while giving fruit out on the way. Then we split into two groups each group giving out their offerings on different streets in the centre. We had bananas, oranges, grapes and blueberries. All very greatly received. The two groups then joined up again heading together to the other side of the city centre to give the last of the fruit out.

Once the task was complete we headed down to St Paul’s square for a bit of circuit style training. Tonight it was press ups, high knees running, reverse dips, wall squats and tuck jumps! That’s tiring just writing it! Everyone performed well. Collete and Alice showed some great dips. Aaron and Richard were smashing out the press ups and George and Sam got that heart rate through the roof with the high knees malarkey. Once those were done we went around to the other side of the church to hold a wall squat. Two sets of 45 seconds of thigh burning action was the task. Aidan, Laura and Karin held it well, most of the group were shaking somewhat but managed to grind it out to the end and on the second set, they had the added ‘bonus’ of ten tuck jumps straight after! By heck, that was a bit of a killer after the wall squats!

After all that the group were glad it was just a few more minutes of running back to 1000 Trades and that was us done for another week.

Next week we will be out doing good again, it would be great if you could join us sign up here.

Thanks Jonny - what a brilliant evening. Definitely ran more than I would on my own too.
