Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Kingston upon Thames runner
Mr B showed us through to his garden with a warning that we might find it a task too big to take on. He explained that he had been a keen gardener but was no longer able to do it himself.
Having had the warning, we were pleasantly surprised when we saw what lay ahead: sure, it was definitely very overgrown, but nothing that a pair of GoodGym-ers couldn’t start work on. Paul went on a quest to find the tools from the communal shed whilst Samia took the essential “before” shot and got cracking on pulling up some of the weeds and thistles. Armed with loppers, shears and secateurs, Paul returned and we got well and truly stuck in to the hacking away. We lopped away at the buddleia, chopped away at the overgrowth and tug-of-warred against the bindweed, and then worked on the task of bagging it all up.

We did as much as we could today but a return mission will definitely be needed to finish bagging up the cuttings (we ran out of bags!) and to finish the hacking. A very satisfying mission, we both agreed, and we enjoyed having the mission interspersed with a chatter and banter with Mr B.
