11 awesome runners ran more than 5k to help out at Tabard Community Allotments!

The evening began with a small spanner in the works as Tower Bridge had been cordoned off.. but that was ok, an extra km or two never hurt anyone! So after a few minutes of tip toe-ing around pedestrians we made it to the borough of Southwark and soon arrived at Tabard Gardens!

We were greeted by Peter who looks after a few gardens in the area including the Stompie Garden which is home to T-34 tank! Check that out if you're in the area, it's such a cool place! He explained all the tasks that needed to be done. One of which was moving a huge pile of bark/woodchip from the entrance into the garden, the second was digging a trench for the polytunnel plus endless weeding in the herb garden.

Everyone grabbed some gloves and got stuck in!! The lovely thing about the weeding was that underneath the weeds was a beautiful mosaic to be uncovered.... the not so lovely thing was the wasps nest :'( we decided to leave the weeding for another day when we were better prepared with bee-keeper outfits!

Meanwhile, the trench was coming along nicely and the woodchip pile was getting smaller by the minute!

After 45 minutes, our time was up and it was time to pack away.. not before a few photos of course!

We said our goodbyes to Peter and headed off for a short and sweet interval session in the park next door. It's always important to incorporate some faster running into your routine as it helps promote good running form and efficiency and will ultimately make you a faster runner in the long term as well and who doesn't want that?!

After 4 laps of the triangle, it was time for a jog back to the office for a stretch and a well earned trip to the pub!

Nice work everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your first GoodGym run!

Remember you can get involved in group runs like this in your local borough! Check out your nearest GoodGym here! We also do loads of work with isolated elderly people which you can also get involved with.

It was great to meet you all, have a lovely rest of the week and hopefully see you at another GoodGym run soon!
