Myself and Tabitha joined forces this weekend to tackle a massive mission that had been started by a previous group of Goodgymmers. They had made impressive inroads to cut down several large areas of bamboo that had overtaken and become the blight of Mrs T's garden. Now it was our turn to see how far we could get!

We were enthusiastically greeted by Mrs T and shown through to the back garden. She had a good selection of loppers, pruners, spades and forks as we quickly got to work. It was a difficult task but we demonstrated nimble footwork and agile manouvers to reach the bamboo that had become well established along the fence and behind both of MrsT's sheds.

We stayed for two and a half hours and in the time managed to create a very large pile of bamboo canes.

Mrs T was very impressed that we were able to cut down all the remaining bamboo. We tried to dig out some of it but were eventually defeated by the shear mass of roots and dense canes. We gave a hand clearing up but Mrs T said she would work her way through the pile of cuttings as she planned to take the larger canes to her allotment for people there to use.

With a big smile and wave we said goodbye to Mrs T and headed home for well deserved sunday dinners.

Well done both, it sounds like quite a challenging one, but will hopefully help Mrs T manage a bit better in the coming months. If she gets back in touch, the central team can suggest potential contacts for getting the roots and other bits tackled.
