Wowwwww 13 AMAZING GoodGymmers ran 8km in driech rain to help out at IMPACT Theatre!!

We once again had a cast of noobs joining us, a HUGE welcome to Kate, Tatiana and Fiona. You were all amazing and made it look easy! It was so great to meet you all.

The first act was the superbness of 13 people coming along to do some good in Ealing woop!! And rain wasn't going to stop us hurtling through the streets of Ealing up north and over the A40 to IMPACT Theatre in Perivale; a wonderful and inspiring place which encourages a positive view of disability and helps to build confidence in adults with disability.

The lovely Peter filled us in on the goings on of the place and then we set to work loading some of the theatre equipment into a van outside..and WOW-EE it was literally the quickest work probably of all time. Everyone had everything cleared before I could blink hehe. Alex did a great job helping Peter with a bit of van loading Tetris and yayyyy it was time for squat challenge! So I had seen this squat challenge earlier in the day and though oh that will be a fun idea for goodgym, hahahaha, maybe I need to rethink my idea of fun?! Incase anyone would like to reenACT it, it was as follows. 1 squat, 30 second squat hold, 2 squats, 30s squat hold, 3 squats, 30s squat hold, 4 squats, 30s squat hold and finally thank goodness finishing on 5 squats 30s squat hold....I wanted to cry a little bit BUT luckily we had some BRIE-lliant and GOUD-a runners with a load of cheese jokes to provide a welcome distraction and make everything FETA hehe. If I had to pick a fave it would be this: Which cheese would you use to coax a bear down from a tree?....Camembert! Creds to Emma for that one I believe! Oh you guys, you crack me up. So everyone feeling strong and certainly not mild we headed back through the rain to the studio.

There were some really amazing efforts with some people running further than they ever had before or had for some time. The great thing about GoodGym is that the run is often split up so you have a bit of recovery time and it makes the run that little bit easier. And there are so many different and good techniques. Gaia is really good with run-walking, running as much as possible then having a fast-paced walk break is a really good way to get your distance up at any level, if you are not used to that distance. Infact some people run marathons this way and get some pretty deece times! So basically, running is what you want it to be and what you want to make it...and what makes you a runner...getting out there and running!!

Next week will be a bit of a shorter run, we'll be running next door to help out at the church there and then I have a few fun things in store for afterwards hehehe! It will be so good to see you all there, you all make GoodGym awesome and I love coming along every week! Sign up to next week here.
