Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Leo
I got my Good Friday off to a superb start with a visit to Southwark to see Mrs J and pick up her shopping list which was as expected chock-full of fruit and vegetables, and looked to be just about right to be covered by her £20.
She was very well located within throwing distance of a couple of nearby shops which as she stated shouldn't be busy and predicted I would be "in and out" and she was spot on! In no time at all I had collected everything I needed (with one exception - the unspreadable butter) from Tesco, so I popped over the road to Sainsbury's and dug that out very quickly and within half an hour of departing I was back at her door for the handover.
She was most pleased I had been able to get everything on her list, and we had a lovely chat about plans for the Easter weekend (not a great deal, unsurprisingly) and how her son was doing a similar thing delivering groceries to vulnerable people up in Bedford but unfortunately a bit too far to help her out.
As much as she was delighted she mentioned what a relief it would be to her son and daughter that she had a haul of fresh produce to tide her over for a while, so it was nice to have positively impacted a family through a very brief and straightforward shopping trip.
She gathered her goods and went inside to make her salad as I set off for a jog home along the sunny river, very pleased with my Good(Gym) Friday endeavours.
