A last minute scrabble for a task saw our group do some litter picking in Barnsley!

Unfortunately our original task was cancelled today but Barnsley regular, Lou, was on the case and spoke to a local councillor about a last minute task suggestion. He asked if we could clear the rubbish in and around one of the local car parks.

We jogged down the hill and across the steps of the Town Hall, and as we arrived at the car park, it was obvious that there was going to be plenty of litter to pick!

Our finds of the evening were:

  • A road closed sign
  • Some sort of large battery
  • Leftover McDonalds (nobody was hungry enough to finish it)

With two very full bags and lots of miscellaneous items stashed ready for collection, we ran back on a special route so we could introduce the Sheffield folk to the amazing...

Fitzwilliam Street!

It's a nice, steep hill in the town centre and we completed a few reps with a focus on good posture, before a steady team run back to Shaw Lane. That wasn't the end of the fitness fun though.

Hang Tough Workout

In teams of three, we completed a workout where at least one member of each team was always hanging from the pull up bar (or actually doing pull ups, if you're nails like Tom). Everybody was very glad for a good arm and back stretch after it was over.

Next week we're running back over the hills to Lavender Court to help the residents in their garden.
