Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by James Poole
On a beautiful spring evening, eight of Goodgym's bestests runners met to paint metal work (in the daylight no less), run a 3km warm up and did a 2km Fartlek session on George Green. It was ace!
With the clocks springing forward on Sunday morning, last night's run was symbolic as it marked the change to lighter evenings, more tasks and better running routes! In recent weeks we have a flurry of new runners and this week's run was no different with the lovely Sophie joining us for the first time - welcome Sophie!
As usual, Trainer James, gave a short briefing before the squad decamped to paint the ironwork around Wanstead House Community Association. This has been a long term project - there's a lot of ironwork - but we are starting to see real progress now with the inside gate all painted and the outside main gates getting close to finished. Goodgym has contributed so much to the upkeep of the 'House' and it's great to see it in such good condition.
With the light fading fast and increased danger of painting ourselves rather than the gates, the team team packed up and headed out into the mean streets of Wanstead - only joking, it might be the nicest village in London. A 3km warm up run led to a 15 minute Fartlek session on George Green - aimed at adding a little speed to the run. All that left was a few minutes of light stretching.
What a busy night. I feel a little tired just writing about it! If you want to get involved then check out the link on the right of this page!
