What we lacked in numbers this evening, we made up for in effort. Tonight, it was just Maurice & me as we set to work in getting the grass under control at the Wishing Well.

It had been raining on and off all day and the forecast for tonight was utterly dire! However…. the weather gods reigned supreme once again and we didn’t get a single spot of rain all evening. It was an absolute miracle!!

Maurice and I decided to do a walk this evening before starting our task but it was cut short (after about 5 minutes, lol!) as we had to go back to base to collect the new strimmer from Gill. We headed back and decided that we’d do our walk at the end of the evening instead and get going on the grass while the rain held off!

Maurice plugged in the strimmer and set to work while I raked and bagged up the grass and sticks. After a while, we decided that the bits of the grass we’d strimmed were now short enough to be mowed, so out came the mower. Maurice tackled the mowing, and I took over the mantle of strimming. It’s a big patch of grass and it hadn’t been mowed since before winter, so we really did have our work cut out! After countless times of having to re-thread the strimmer cord and de-clogg the mower, our hard work had paid off and the grass was looking much tidier. Maurice and I both had bad backs and RSI (repetitive strain injury) from holding the strimmer (haha!) but we felt very accomplished once we looked at the finished result. We spent a good hour and a half on it this evening (we couldn’t seem to stop as it was all going so well, and the rain was STILL holding off!). However, sadly, we did have to call it a night just before finishing the entire garden. It was getting later and darker and we estimate there was at least another half an hour’s work….

Once we’d packed up all the tools and equipment, we decided that a good way to get in our evening walk would be to walk to the pub! Which we did! We headed on down to Hops on foot for a cheeky beer and coke zero. We chatted about everything from the Titanic to football and everything in between!

A fun and productive night in lovely company as always – and thank you Maurice for tonight’s pun. You’re a lifesaver!

Have a great week and see you soon! Nicola Xx

PS – The moment I stepped back inside my house, the heaven’s opened!!! It (nearly) never rains on a Goodgym night!.....

Great account of a productive evening's work, though never seems like work when on a GoodGym rask. I look forward to returning to the garden soon. Great night.
