14 GoodGymers hit the street, took on a 7k run and task a Wolves Lane Horticultural Centre

Shouts out to Damian, Mariane, Robyn, Natalie, Dominique, Joanna

Sarah was the first to appear and as she tucked into her delicious looking doughnut some newcomers joined us. Shouts out to Damian, Mariane, Robyn, Natalie, Dominique, Joanne. After briefing and warm up we took a quick bic pic before setting off toward Wolves Lane and the task at hand.

a lovely couple who run the centre along with some volunteers

Just before getting to the task we were very happy to see Denis pop up from nowhere. He’d just missed it and legged it to catch up - SKILLS. Props for the extra effort Denis. On our arrival we were met by this weeks light - task owners Clare and Phil - a lovely couple who run the centre along with some volunteers. We were also very happy to see John Hunter waiting for us at the centre. John was planning to meet us at HQ to take some photos but had been caught up in delays on the train over in Saaaarf London. Great job getting over to us John!

cut, pulled, snipped and tugged away at the wicked weeds

With introductions done we got stuck in with the task at hand which, since we were last here, had become so much more over grown. We were back to waist high and taller grass, brambles and weeds. However, this didn’t deter any of us one bit. Everyone cut, pulled, snipped and tugged away at the wicked weeds. It wasn’t too long before you could see some major dents in what was dense grass and weeds, people filling their white sacks as the went. In what seemed like a blink of an eye we were out of time. We had filled 11 bags with undesirable weeds and such like which felt great. It’ll be really cool to come back and finish the task.

cheer them on and remind them of the sprint finish

As we left the task we celebrated with a round (or two) of high fives before hitting the road again. We regrouped at West Green Road and I let everyone know that we were on the home straight and that we would be picking up the pace. I advised people to run at a faster pace that suited them (but leave some gas in the tank for a sprint finish) and we were off. I awaited everyone a few hundred yards from HQ to cheer them on and remind them of the sprint finish.

That did we regrouped for our warm down before heading off home to feed the bellies (Shouts out to Denis for joining me in the gym before din dins – looking good bro).

Until next week folks. ** Do good – keep fit and look out for the light.**
