Date and time
18:15 - 19:30Welcome to GoodGym Newcastle
We're a friendly and social group that combines exercise with helping out local charities and community groups. Every Monday evening we meet to get active and do a physical task to make a difference in the Newcastle area. The GoodGym motto is 'Do Good, Get Fit'.
This task on September 28th
This task is part of Newcastle University's micro volunteering. We will writing letters and cards to children who are in hospital.
Meet at Stepney Bank Stables from 6pm for a 6:15pm start for a visit to Newcastle University Students’ Union. This will be approximately 1.25 miles, or 2 kilometres, each way. Please try to get there ready to leave at 6:15pm as we do not have a lot of time to spare. As a result, there is no walking option for this task but please feel free to meet us at the students' union if you don't want to run. You can also cycle there.
Where we meet
We’ll be meeting at Stepney Bank Stables, NE1 2NP. There’ll be GoodGymers in the reception area, look out for the red or black GoodGym t-shirts if you are new! Stepney Bank Stables has a free car park if you are driving there, but walking, running, cycling or using public transport is recommended.
At Stepney Bank Stables you can leave bags and valuables in the staff room, which is able to be locked and is secure. We also have access to the toilet facilities in the building.
Participating at GoodGym Newcastle
GoodGym is for absolutely everyone aged 18 and above. We welcome runners of all abilities, including absolute beginners or those returning from injury. Unless otherwise stated, there will be a walking option at Monday group runs. Occasionally we will be visiting somewhere further afield, when running, cycling or meeting at the location will be the only realistic options. The listing on our website will clearly state this.
There will always be a back marker and/or walk leader on every run or walk to a task, so nobody will ever get left behind - no matter what your pace is.

This is a GoodGym group run, where we run to help a local community organisation and then run back.
New GoodGymers are welcome to GoodGym group runs - no one gets left behind. You're unlikely to be alone, hundreds of new people sign up every week.
