21 awesome runners ran 4km to clear leaves and move trees at St George's Church in Westcombe Park!

It was a miserable start but the weather gods must have known we were going to be outside for the next 90 minutes so decided to give us a break! Cheers!

We were joined by two new runners last night! Maria who has just moved back from Singapore and Chris who has just moved back from New Zealand! Welcome both!

Nifty fifty

It was also cause for celebration as our resident trail runner, map lover and West Country geezer was celebrating his 50th good deed! Well done Brin, doing good deeds since February 2017, looking forward to seeing what your next year of running holds!

Anyhoo.. we did a quick little warm up and then headed off on our run towards the church. After about 15 minutes we had arrived and were greeted by Tim, the vicar. He had lots of leaves that needed raking into big piles and actually what turned out to be a bigger job was moving a whole host of trees from one side of the church to the other, ready for it to be chopped up and taken away.

Some of the trees were pretty large and there were lots of techniques being used to carry them. We had some people carrying them loud and proud like a flagpole, some people with them under their arms like they were ready for a jousting battle and then others adopting the drag across the pavement option... all very effective tekkers though I must say.

After 30 minutes, all the trees had been moved, I sadly can't say the same for the team raking the leaves BUT the main parts of the garden had been cleared and that's all the matters!!

We went inside the church for our photo and Tim told us about a few events that were coming up. If anyone fancied going to them then you can find more info here!

So off we went on our run back to the uni, we were a little bit pushed for time so we skipped the fitness session and went straight to stretches. You all got a decent workout anyway, especially the rakers!

Also if anyone is on Twitter please give us a follow, we are trying to be a bit more active with it! @GGGreenW :)

Oh and one more thing, hopefully see some of you at Burgess Parkrun on Saturday. It isn't the easiest one to get to on public transport but is about 4 miles from Greenwich so could be a nice warm up or make it into a long run for the day! We'll go out for some post run brekkie after as well :)

Great work last night everyone! Tim was so pleased with what you got done, WELL DONE!! 2 more group runs left now! See you next week!
