22 GoodGymers ran 4km, delivered 200 leaflets for SPCA & shifted lots of wood for Skip Garden

Welcome along to Martha whose first time it was last night - lovely for you to join us and thanks to all the regulars for coming back week on week!

In the news this week:

  1. Good luck to all those racing this weekend, whether that is Oxford Half Marathon, Royal Parks Half Marathon and anything else - enjoy it and don't go off to fast!
  2. Next May we are off to Bucharest for 4 days of fun, racing and more fun. We are starting to organise flights etc - sign up here.
  3. And of course it's the GoodGym Monthly Drinks tonight in Angel - gonna be a good one!

Onto to last night, we were double tasking helping Skip Garden and St Pancras Community Association (SPCA) - doing good in our community!

Once we'd warmed up we split into two groups with 13 people heading north to Royal College Street to spread the word about SPCA's amazing projects for young and old people, when we leafleted the Somers Town Ward last month we made a big impact with lots of new people going along to the community centre.

We split into pairs covering Plender St, Pratt St, Camden St and College Place - nice one guys! Some people ran up and down stairs and others covered their entire road in no time at all.

200 booklets + 12 GGers = delivered in 10 mins

Meanwhile in Kings Cross Pritesh had led a group of 9 people to help Skip Garden, getting the following done:

  • Moved four SUPER HEAVY planters
  • Shifted planks of wood up the roof - watching out for the beehive so not to wake the beeeezzzz
  • Lifted, shifted and moved a pile of perspex around the site to make room for the wood

'Team Leaflet' arrived at Skip Garden to see the final parts of the above work, with everyone excited and shocked by the reflective nature of Thomas' jacket - he is the shining light for us all...

S P C A, who do bees appreciate!

With lots of time post-task we went to Granary Square for a fitness session:

  • First off - tricep dips, press ups, bench steps and squats (or squat-jumps)
  • Second off - we did glute conditioning - very important
  • Third off - pocket to socket arm technique practice
  • Final off - time trial time

Everyone did the time trial in fantastic times, with Thomas 'Reflective' Samuels coming in first in sub-3 mins! Good arm and speed work all. Thanks for a lovely evening everyone.

Sign up here for next week it's a THRIVE LONDON special in line with #worldmentalhealthday.

PB out.
