8 excellent runners ran 4km to clean up in the GBC Hospice Charity Shop!

Well what another great success last night! We had two newbies attend which I LOVE as it means the word is spreading woohoo! The lovely Chloe and Nick, WELCOME! Let's give them a cheer and make them feel part of the gang... Cheer Chloe! Cheer Nick! Hope you both had a good time, it was lovely meeting you!

SO COLD!

We dropped our bags off and did a warm up, which is needed even more now in these FREEEEZING conditions. A few laps round the quad followed by a tense game of shin tag to get those leg muscles activated and those hearts pumping!

The charity shop is less than 1km down the road so we did a little loop along the river and around the University grounds to add a bit of distance. We arrived at the charity shop and were greeted by the lovely Jane who has just signed up for her first 10k! AMAZING!!! Hopefully she will come running with us :)

We split into two groups. One group was hanging clothes in the back room whilst the rest of the gang began tidying up on the shop floor. Hangers had to be swivelled round the right way, displays neatened up, shelves and window sills dusted and clothes put away. Oh and of course Christian was reunited with his mate, Henry. Maybe we should set up a GoodGym account for Henry as he has made quite a few appearances the past few weeks, plus he is already red so doesn't even need a T shirt.

Up the stairs!

After 20 minutes or so the ground floor was looking pretty spotless so onwards and upwards (literally) up the stairs to do the 1st floor! By this point, team 1 had finished putting the clothes on hangers so it was all hands on deck cleaning upstairs. After 10 minutes up there it was pristine! Amazing job everyone!

We went back downstairs, Nick straightened his final painting in the landing and then we took a final group photo.

I'm gonna pop some tags

It seems to be becoming a bit of a "thing"... taking a photo in the charity shop holding your favourite item. We had people choosing hats, fur coats, wellies and other interesting bits to pose for our Macklemore-esque photo, which looks awesome by the way! And then we were on our way.

We ran past the Cutty Sark where we stopped to do the fitness session. A little sprint relay with a few exercises in between just to keep everyone moving! Just in case Vickie hadn't already had enough of relay running after she did 7x 10km on Sunday... don't worry Vickie I'll stop talking about it now!!!

A final little jog back to our warm up spot but this time for a cool down stretch! We collected our bags and this week's #GreenwichGoodies which were some good old school baby bags of Haribo and then that's it... we were done!

Really awesome job last night! It takes the volunteers all day to achieve what you did in half an hour so it is really appreciated by everyone there. See you next week!
