14 Goodgymmers hit the street, took on a 1k run and a litter picking and bulb planting task for the Friends of Tottenham Green

shouts out to Andrew who joined us for his first ever GoodGym session

As 7pm approached people baring red started to appear and then there was one with a black t-shirt – shouts out to Olie on receiving his 50th good deed t-shirt. He was wearing it with pride. Also sending shouts out to Andrew who joined us for his first ever GoodGym session. Huge shout out to the GoodGym Barnet trainer Pennie who joined us too. After introductions a briefing and warm up we were off .

nice little run around the block

The task location this week was literally a few hundred yards away from our where we set off each week so with this in mind we would be going for a nice little run around the block and then along Seven Sisters Road to the Green area where we would be meeting this weeks light Laura the Friends of Tottenham Green task owner. On arrival I introduced and handed over to Laura who explained what needed doing in and around the children’s play area. We then split into three groups and got stuck in. One group was tasked with litter picking outside the children’s play area and two were tasked with litter picking in the play area and turning soil in preparation for planting some bulbs. The only snag we ran into (boom boom) was Andy managing to bend his fork.. for fork's sake. This was a minor issue and we got it bent back into shape in no time and Dashing Dave informed us that the part of the fork that had bent was called a tine.

Everyone worked away merrily

We had got to the halfway point and things were looking pretty good. Lots of rubbish was being removed from the park and the earth was getting a good turning. One or two GGers had even started planting some bulbs – good stuff. Soon after the halfway point we started to lose light so the head torches came out. Everyone worked away merrily as dusk settled in. We were fast approaching 8pm so started to pack up soon after. We were very close to our HQ and it wouldn’t take long to get back but this was great, as it would leave time for a healthy fitness session. A quick round of high fives and we were off.

healthy fitness session

After saying our goodbyes to Laura and her colleague we set off in the direction of the Bernie Grant Centre were we’d do a running drill followed by some rather testing Tabata training. I ensured there were some regression and progression here as Tabata can be quite challenging but we do love a challenge at GoodGym.

sprint finish

Tabata done we had a quick breather before a sprint finish along the last few hundred meters back to HQ. This was followed by a warm down. A large chunk of the group then went of for some din dins together at the Lord Palmerston.

Cracking effort guys!

Oh and thanks for the punspiration DD =)

Until next week folks do good – stay fit & look out for the light
