Six of GoodGym’s bravest runners wrapped up warm to head to Nutter Lane to do some night gardening and ran 6.5km in the process.

With clear skies and temperatures dropping, five of GoodGym’s regular runners welcomed newcomer Sarah in to the fold. With the briefing done and plans afoot for next week’s Christmas drinks the team set off up Wanstead High Street towards Nutter Lane and the community allotment.

While the streets are well lit in Wanstead, the allotment is black as pitch. But that doesn’t put off GG Redbridge and after dishing out some headtorches the group began the job of clearing leaf fall and carefully weeding around some of the herbs and vegetables planted in the raised bedding.

With six wheelbarrows full of leaves and weeds collected in a staggering 30 minutes, the team set off to log some miles and beginning training for spring marathons and halves. 45 minutes later the group returned for some light stretching and a cool down.

Another great evening on the streets of Wanstead doing good deeds and getting fit at the same time. Lots of regulars missed this week and we hope to see them back next week for more active fun and the GG Redbridge Xmas party.

Big shout out to all that came along and braved the cold weather. We don’t need another hero - we have six already!
