8 Runners ran 7.5k to help local school Bethany of Boscombe

The rain cleared in time as the gang gathered at Flirt for our much anticipated trip to the secret garden of Boscombe!

Big congratulations to Jenni and Dan after completing the recent Pier to Pier swim....awesome effort :)

A brief warmup and chat about the task and we were almost ready for off...but not before our regular pandiculation session led by Andrea.....see , it does work!

Town wasn't too busy today as the rain had put the day trippers off .... we headed to the pier then East towards Boscombe .....where a mass toilet stop was needed( must be the sea air). I'm sure I was then called dad by Caprice for my improvised waterproof bag, but this again could have been the sea air.

A quick up hill session through Boscombe gardens led us to our task where Louise the task owner and Ross were waiting . Ross was carrying an injury but still wanted to help at the task.....what dedication we have here in Bournemouth...AWESOME!

Louise led us to the garden area of the school which is fabulous...and it is our pleasure to be able to help! The group quickly split into 2 with one loading a skip with old bits of wood ,etc and the other tackling the pond . 3 people made short work of pulling up the massively overgrown pond plant which then subsequently covered all in nice clean pond water! How refreshing! This was bagged and dumped in the skip as many a wheelbarrow trip was made to get the area as clear as possible and safer for the children to be in. It was good to see the pond looking healthier by the end of our visit....we will return as many times as needed to get the area up to scratch ...looking forward to seeing the chickens!

We said our goodbyes and then a quick 3k blast back to town got us back to Flirt for 8(almost!).

Awesome effort by everyone and a big thanks to Louise for your help !

See you next week as we head back to Abbeyfield for more water based fun! :)
