Story written by Bryony
As GoodGym continued to grow, they started to struggle with space in the office to house the various member and good deeds t-shirts. They decided that they needed to outsource the mailing of the t-shirts and then came across our project in North London that seemed like a perfect fit.
Since November 2017 GoodGym have been working with The Camden Society’s Mailout project, a mailing and fulfilment social enterprise supporting and training adults with a learning disability. At Mailout and the Camden Society we believe that everyone should be able to live their lives to the full, free from discrimination.
Bit by bit the t-shirts were transferred over to our storage facilities at Mailout, followed by coach letters and certificates. Our trainees have been learning how to pack the t-shirt packs and coach letters and are gaining valuable employment skills. Not only that, but through contributing to a community project and having regular social interaction, trainees are maintaining their health and wellbeing, making friends and learning social skills that will serve them well in all areas of life.
GoodGym is now a favourite for trainees and one of our largest customers, with New Balance delivering directly to us. Links between GoodGym and the Camden Society have grown in other areas, with group run tasks helping out projects in Camden and Southwark. Joel has run some fitness sessions for people supported by the Camden Society with some excellent results.
By joining GoodGym and claiming your t-shirt, you are also supporting this fantastic project, so a big thank you to everyone.
