All of our tasks are fun, but this one really felt like we were having a clear and direct impact on those in need, and whilst packing the bags we could literally imagine a child opening their bag on Christmas Day.

About the task

During Ealing Climate Week 2025, we’ll be coming together with We Run Ealing to donate our old running kit in support of Open Southall’s community art/textile/sewing activities. Bring t-shirts, shorts, leggings, buffs (though not shoes) that you no longer want. Pop them in a backpack that you can walk or run with.

We’ll meet at Southall parkrun. Some of us will be be walking or running the parkrun and you’d be most welcome to join us. Alternatively, If you’d like to volunteer at the parkrun, email southall@parkrun.com with your parkrun ID.

Around 10.00am, we’ll walk/run one mile to Parkside Yards at Southall’s Green Quarter with the materials in our backpacks and drop them off at Open Southall.

Open Southall will be there to meet us and tell us all about their amazing project!

We Run Ealing
Delivering inclusive community-focused running activities and related volunteering for people of all ages and abilities in Ealing

WE RUN EALING is the charitable arm of the award-winning Ealing Half Marathon. We deliver community-focused running initiatives, many of which are free and open to people of all abilities. Previously known as EHM Legacy, thanks to Ealing Half Marathon, we have done heaps of stuff over the last ten years to help get people moving in Ealing. We have had installed a new drinking fountain installed Lammas Park – popular with humans and dogs! During lockdown we arranged events to encourage Ealing residents to run or walk to dozens of local parks. More recently we have brought the Blended Trails trail-running concept to Ealing and launched Ealing’s first ever Food Bank Run, in partnership with GoodGym and parkrun.

Make sure you've read our general guidelines for safety for taking part in a GoodGym session.

This is a GoodGym group run, with the option of walking too. You'll meet other GoodGymers at the start location and run or walk to the task together. If you're worried about any aspect of the session, contact your area activator Kash by email at kash@goodgym.org.

The total distance of this group run is 2km.

Remember that we will be running or walking to and from the task, so you'll only be running or walking for half this distance in one go.

GoodGym is a community of people that get fit by doing good. We run, walk and cycle to do practical tasks for community organisations and isolated older people.
