Getting there

For this session we're going to meet at the task, so you'll need to make your own way there. We encourage you to walk, run, or cycle to do so!

    About this session

Our group sessions are open to everyone - if you're new to GoodGym please sign up and come along - we are inclusive and friendly, and we'll be pleased to see you!! We have volunteers aged from 18 to 80 from all waks of life, no one is ever left out.

Now the Harvest Season is upon us, there's plenty that needs doing at Gale Street Organic Community Garden.

Join Breda & Nassaba at this stunning green oasis in the heart of Becontree - help is needed to fix the rain water collectors (they need more than gaffer tape!), paint the cabin, harvest vegetables and plant out winter varieities, as well as mulching, weeding and composting ready for Winter.

Come and meet like-minded people, connect with nature and give back to your community - all whilst getting active!

Get a taste of what to expect by checking out this Insta reel of a recent Gale Street session.

    🧤 What We’ll Do

    • Preparing the ground for new planting (digging & turning soil)

    • Composting

    • Weeding

    7.30pm – finish

    🌞 Why It Matters

Gale Street Orgaic Community Garden has been run by Breda - a local older residnet - for over 20 years. Since the pandemic - the garden has been left to go wild. Help from GoodGym B&D is crucial to get the garden back to it's best adn ready to welcome more local reaidents to enjoy time in this magica green space.

    👋 Who You’ll Meet

    • Breda - warm, welcoming and with a wicked sense of humour, Breda is the star attraction at Gale Street (other than the garden itself of course). They have been running the garden for the benefit of the community for over 20 years (and they're a qualified soil scientist too!)

    • Nassaba - a very special soul, Nassaba runs Elevate Together C.I.C and is involved across B&D in a number of food growing projects. Chat with them to find out more about current projects and how you could get involved further

Come along for a relaxed and friendly evening of volunteering – no experience needed, just bring your energy and community spirit!

We hope to see you there!!

    What to look out for
