About this session

This one could be messy! The Swan Food Project are working on a project to repair the river bank which needs lots of mud! Luckily there is already lots of mud on the steps opposite the Rectifying House that shouldn't be there so our task will be to bag this up, load it into a car then help unload at the other end.

It's a double whammy of clearing the steps to make them more accessible and then making use of the material further down the bank. You'll get to wield a shovel to fill the bags, do some lifting and then get a short run down the bank to help unload.

The silt shifting session will take about an hour so there will a short run before and we can decide how far we want to go afterwards. The 4km river loop to Diglis might be nice if people are keen.

Bring clothes that you don't mind getting a bit dirty.

Unfortunately there is only enough kit for 6 people on this task so sign up early if you'd like to get involved.

This task supports
The Swan Food project
Caring for the swans in Worcester

The Swan Food Project was founded in 2014 to improve the diet of swans in Worcester’s swan sanctuary, to improve their environment and to help people learn about and understand swans. The Project is run entirely by volunteers. In the long run, our goal is an organisation able to ensure the welfare of swans in Worcester fifty or a hundred years from now, and beyond!

What to look out for

Make sure you've read our general guidelines for safety for taking part in a GoodGym session.

This is a GoodGym group run, with the option of walking too. You'll meet other GoodGymers at the start location and run or walk to the task together. If you're worried about any aspect of the session, contact your area activator Marcus Mumford (he/him) by email at marcus@goodgym.org.

Options are available to run between 2km and 5km in total.

Remember that we will be running or walking to and from the task, so you'll only be running or walking for half this distance in one go.
